BA Physics 180 ECTS
Career Goals and Fields of Activity
Graduates of physics have a wide range of employment opportunities open to them, as their ability to analyse and solve complex problems enables them to familiarise themselves very quickly with less familiar subject complexes. Studying physics with a Master's degree therefore offers a wide range of opportunities. Graduates are versatile thanks to their interdisciplinary education and have the best and most secure job and career opportunities in a wide range of industries, such as
- in industrial research and development centres
- in teaching at schools, colleges and universities
- as an IT expert both in companies and in self-employment
- in the patent system (law firms and patent offices)
- at management consultancies, financial service providers, insurance companies and banks
- in the public service
Despite changing economic conditions, the opportunities on the labour market for graduates in physics are very good and have been for a long time.
Qualification Goals
Upon successful completion of the programme, graduates possess the following competences:
- Graduates have a capacity for abstraction, analytical thinking, problem-solving skills and the ability to structure complex interrelationships.
- Graduates understand the basics and interrelationships of physics.
- Graduates have knowledge of the mathematical and theoretical foundations of physics as well as the theoretical and experimental methods for gaining new insights.
- Graduates have a broad basic knowledge of the most important areas of physics as well as in-depth knowledge in at least one area.
- Graduates are able to familiarise themselves with new task areas with the help of specialist literature, to apply physical and mathematical methods under guidance to concrete experimental or theoretical physical tasks, to develop solution paths and to interpret and evaluate the results.
- Graduates know the scientific way of working and are able to work on physical problems in compliance with the rules of good scientific practice.
- Graduates are able to present and represent their knowledge and findings to a professional audience.
