BA Nanostructure Technology 180 ECTS
Career Goals and Fields of Activity
Due to the comprehensive training in the fundamentals of experimental and theoretical physics and chemistry as well as the in-depth and complementary interdisciplinary training in basic research and application in the Master's degree programme, graduates of the Nanostructure Technology degree programme have excellent professional and career opportunities on the labour market in a wide variety of fields, such as
- in the industrial research and development centres
- in production companies and project management
- in the semiconductor industry and coating technology
- in university and non-university research and development centres
- as an IT expert, both in companies and as a freelancer.
Despite changing economic conditions, the opportunities on the labour market for graduates in nanostructure technology have long remained very good compared to other academic professions.
Qualification Goals
After successfully completing the programme, graduates have the following skills:
- Graduates have a capacity for abstraction, analytical thinking, problem-solving skills and the ability to structure complex interrelationships.
- Graduates understand the fundamentals and interrelationships of nanoscience.
- Graduates have knowledge of the physical, chemical and technical fundamentals of nanostructure technology in theory and practice as well as the theoretical and experimental methods for gaining new insights.
- Graduates have a broad basic knowledge of the most important areas of nanoscience as well as in-depth knowledge in at least one area.
- Graduates are able to familiarise themselves with new areas of work with the help of specialist literature, apply physical and technical methods to specific tasks under supervision, develop solutions and interpret and evaluate the results.
- Graduates are able to work on problems of nanostructure technology according to scientific working methods and in compliance with the rules of good scientific practice.
- Graduates are able to present and represent their knowledge and findings to a specialised audience.
