FRANCI'18
07/30/2018On Monday July 16th 2018, the Chair of Astronomy hosted the 6th annual meeting of astronomers in northern Bavaria, organized by graduate and doctoral students.
The meeting dubbed FRANCI (FRanconian Astronomy Neighbourhood Collaboration Incentive) seeks to foster collaboration and scientific exchange among ca. 70 researchers from the Dr.-Remeis Observatory in Bamberg, the Erlangen Center for Astroparticle Physics (ECAP), and the Chair of Astronomy of the JMU Würzburg. The scientific program encompassed contributions from young scientists and international guests covering a wide range of topics, from multi-wavelength astronomy and theoretical astrophysics to instrumental developments for future observatories, and the history of astronomy (https://www.physik.uni-wuerzburg.de/astro).
The meeting ended with a barbecue and an enthusiastic tournament of FRANCI Ball, a sport created especially for this event.
