Würzburg Seminar on Quantum Field Theory and Gravity

The identification of the CFT dual of string theory in AdS3 is a long-standing open problem, and little is known outside of very special cases. Recently, a (perturbative) CFT dual for bosonic string theory in AdS3 with pure NS-NS fluxes was proposed, and has since passed a plethora of analytic tests. Based on new insights about the long-string sector of the AdS3 worldsheet theory, I will argue how this dual CFT emerges naturally from the worldsheet path integral, effectively deriving the duality.
