Special seminar "Determination of the Higgs CP properties in the tau-decay channel including a background analysis"

Abstract:
In this talk, I present a method to determine the CP properties of the Higgs boson in its decay channel to tau-leptons. While a CP odd scalar is excluded by experiment, it could still be an arbitrary CP mixture or a CP even eigenstate. The CP properties of the Higgs boson manifest themselves in spin-spin correlations between the tau-leptons that give rise to distinct angular distributions.
An important background to this process is the production of the tau-lepton pair via electroweak gauge bosons. Since this background suffers from large QCD corrections, adequate predictions require at least the consideration of NLO QCD corrections to the polarized production of the massive tau-leptons. In a first step, I present the contributions of the Drell-Yan production to the angular distributions at NLO QCD. Due to the large amount of events at the LHC, this process can be used to calibrate the Higgs measurement. In a second step, I discuss the necessity of NLO QCD corrections to the process of Z+jet production which is a background process to the experimentally accessible Higgs production and decay into tau-leptons in association with a jet.
