Dental imaging
Dental imaging |
The project is carried out in cooperation with the Dental Clinic of the University of Würzburg. The first step of the project is 3D digitization of teeth by means of contrast-enhanced MR imaging. This should replace the traditional impression taking and allow fast and precise CAD/CAM-based production of teeth restorations.
Current research includes the following topics:
- MRI in prosthodontics
Digital dental impression: 3D tooth surface digitization using contrast-enhanced MRI
- MRI in cariology
3D visualization and quantification of carious lesions, visualization of dental pulp
- MRI in orthodontics
3D localization of impacted theeth in children and adults
- MRI of the temporomandibular joint
Morphology and function of the temporomandibular joint
- Dedicated hardware
Development of dedicated RF coils for different tasks of dental MRI
- Dental materials in dental MRI
Study of the influence of dental materials on dental MRI
