Higgs boson pair production in the Standard Model and in Effective Field Theories
Abstract
Higgs boson pair production is an important process to probe the trilinear Higgs self-coupling and thereby learn more about the Higgs potential. In this talk we will first review some recent developments in precision calculations related to Higgs boson pair production in gluon fusion. In the second part we will focus on Higgs boson pair production in the framework of Effective Field Theories to parametrise new physics effects. We will introduce both Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT) and Higgs Effective Field Theory (HEFT) and discuss their imprints on the Higgs sector, as well as the prospects to identify indirect evidence of new physics.
