Probing CPT invariance with top quarks
This seminar presents our first model-independent analysis of CPT violation in the top-quark sector. A constraint on the coupling of the top-quark current to a CPT-violating vector field is established by examining the difference between the reconstructed top and anti-top quark masses measured by the ATLAS and CMS collaborations at the LHC. We find that the temporal component of a CPT-violating background field interacting with the top-quark vector current is constrained to the range [−0.13, 0.29] GeV at the 95% confidence level. Additionally, proposed dedicated analyses offer the potential to constrain other components of the CPT-violating vector field with similar precision. The prospects for future LHC sensitivity to CPT violation in the top-quark sector are also discussed.
