Title: Full NLO predictions for ZZ scattering and its irreducible background at the LHC
Abstract:
In this talk I will present NLO predictions for vector-boson scattering (VBS) into ZZ and its irreducible background. While the LO cross section can be split into EW signal, interference and QCD background, NLO corrections cannot be uniquely attributed to these contributions but should be classified according to the order of the strong and EW couplings. We computed the NLO corrections of all 4 coupling orders and performed a detailed analysis. Similarly to same-sign W and WZ scattering, the NLO EW corrections to the EW signal are about -16 per cent. These large corrections result from EW Sudakov logarithms can be reproduced by a simple logarithmic approximation. Furthermore, the QCD corrections to the EW signal are larger (+24%) than typical QCD corrections in VBS. This originates from considering the full matrix elements including tri-boson contributions in a rather inclusive phase space.
