PhD Student Positions
10 doctoral positions will be available within the Research Training Group 2994 `Particle physics at colliders in the LHC precision era' starting in January 2025.
The Research Training Group (RTG) is an DFG-funded doctoral program offered jointly by the groups working on Theoretical Particle Physics, Gauge/Gravity Duality, and Experimental Particle Physics at the University of Würzburg. Our innovative projects are located within the various research foci of the groups involved.

The earliest possible start of a project is January 2025.
Tasks:
- Scientific collaborative work in the areas: Experimental Particle Physics, Theoretical Particle Physics, Gauge/Gravity Duality
- Collaboration with colleagues within the RTG and related working groups inside and outside the University of Würzburg
- Deepening scientific knowledge through courses and workshops within the Würzburg Research Academy
- Writing a dissertation and publications as well as presenting the results at international conferences and workshops
- Additional training in non-research-oriented transferable skills
Your profile:
- Completed Master Studies in Physics or a related field latest by November 2025 with very good knowledge of physics related to our research foci
- Motivation for independent scientific work
- Willingness to work in an international and interdisciplinary team
- Good/excellent written and spoken English language skills
- Ideally previous scientific work relevant to the selected topics
- Open, independent and solution-oriented way of working and thinking

After the pre-selection, short-listed candidates will be invited to give a short presentation on their master's project at the beginning of October 2024. There will be the opportunity to get to know the supervisors and learn more about the projects offered and the curriculum. The successful applicants will be informed as soon as possible.

Post Doc Position
A long-term post-doctoral position will be available within the Research Training Group 2994 `Particle physics at colliders in the LHC precision era' starting in January 2025.
The Research Training Group (RTG) is an DFG-funded doctoral program offered jointly by the groups working on Theoretical Particle Physics, Gauge/Gravity Duality, and Experimental Particle Physics at the University of Würzburg. We are seeking a candidate working within the areas outlined at https://www.physik.uni-wuerzburg.de/grk2994/research/
We look in particular for a candidate working at the interface between theory and experiment. Interest in theoretical and applied aspects of machine learning is of advantage.
We offer a temporary employment (TV-L E13, 100%) funded by the German Science Foundation for a period of up to five years, starting at the earliest on 1 January 2025. The successful candidate will be given the possibility to build up their own research group and to obtain a "Habilitation" as qualification for their future career.
