Epitaxial Quantum Dots for on-Chip Photonics and Long Distance Quantum Implementations

Quantum optics is currently in the focus of both fundamental physics studies as well as of more applied research. Most implementations strongly require efficient sources of quantum light. Furthermore, if single- or entangled photons are available at telecommunication wavelengths, it would open up the possibility of performing experiments within long optical fiber links.
In this talk, we will discuss the most recent results achieved at the Institut für Halbleiteroptik und Funktionelle Grenzflächen, in particular regarding the realization of bright sources of quantum light emitting at telecommunication wavelengths thanks to material engineering.
Furthermore, quantum frequency conversion experiments will be described: firstly, measurements on entangled photons distributed via an intra-city fiber link deployed in Stuttgart will be discussed. Secondly, recent achievements in full-photonic quantum teleportation with remote sources will be targeted.
Lastly, it will be highlighted the use of telecom-emitting single-photon sources in combination with silicon-nitride photonics for the perspective upscaling of on-chip experimental complexity.
